I usually don't like reviewing memoirs because who am I to give an opinion on someone's life? So that being said, I am going to try to focus on the organization of content rather than the content itself.
Synopsis: Tom Felton AKA the bleach blond asshole, whom I love, Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter, writes a memoir mostly revolving around his time as said blond. Starting from childhood and leading to just before publication, you learn interesting tidbits about audition processes, each Potter movie, and his trouble with fame and substance post-Potter.
Plot: Generally this was framed in an okay way. Coming into this I mostly just wanted more details on the Harry Potter set life and behind-the-scenes content, which I absolutely got. Each chapter was narratively framed by following his interactions with an actor during the movies, including first meetings and then afterward. There were also some lovely beginning chapters featuring his family and growing up in a small town. But again, the meat of this book followed the Potter franchise and his relationships with the cast members, mainly Emma Watson. So that meant that 75% of the book seemed to flow smoothly and followed a pattern. However, it was towards the end that things got foggy. I feel as though this memoir was a lot longer to begin with and then got the editorial chop before being sent to print because so much of it just seemed rushed. It was basically an entire book about Harry Potter and Feltons childhood and then BAM addiction and rehab and then a very small conclusion chapter. I feel as though we barely scratched the surface with the topics that are probably much more important to touch on anyways, not that I don't love all the magical moments written. I do feel as though I have gotten to know Tom on a much deeper level and as a true Potterhead I did even learn a few things. Just disappointed with the ending honestly.
Again, I don't like rating memoirs so no star rating here. BUT, if you are a Draco fan or a fan of Harry Potter in general this is a must-read.
Can Emma Watson write one now?
